Phillips Exeter Academy Class of 1980

Today I went looking for Martin Luther King, Jr’s “I Have A Dream” speech, on the occasion of Martin Luther King Day here in the US.

Although I’ve seen the documentary and heard the sound bite version of the speech many many times by now, today is the first time in a long while I’ve listened to the whole thing beginning to end, and thought I would share this.

You don’t need an iPod to play this, it’s should work with nearly any computer.

If you’re in a hurry, the “famous” part that’s usually excerpted for classes and media commentary starts at around 10 minutes in, but you really need to listen from the beginning to get the full impact.

This weekend I received my copy of 25th reunion class photo. Ordering one was slightly obscure, so I thought I’d point out how to get your own. On the Academy’s reunion photo page, it says

Click here to order a print of your class photo. You will need the password that was included in your reunion packet. Contact us if you need help with the password.

This was slightly challenging, as I didn’t seem to get a password or other info in my packet, but if you follow the link and search through a list of events, you eventually wind up at this page where you can order a reunion photo. The only photo you can order is the group photo of the entire class, though. It would be nice if they had a way to order from the set of event photos in general.

It’s $8 for 4×6, $12 for 5×7, $18 for 8×12, $25 for 10×15 or $15 for 8 wallet photos (who buys wallet photos of a group photo?), plus $3 shipping and handling.

Hint: the password isn’t “phillips”.
